Miguel Soler

Director General of Vocational Training at the Spanish Ministry of Education.


He was born in Valencia in 1954, has a degree in Exact Sciences from the University of Valencia and is a secondary school Mathematics teacher. He has taught in several secondary schools in the province of Valencia, and has held different positions in the Council for Culture, Education and Science in the Valencian Autonomous Government.

Miguel Soler, Director General of Vocational Training at the Spanish Ministry of Education, closed the Congress by analyzing why the classrooms of the 21st century were too similar to those of the 19th century. Miguel Soler appealed to all educational authorities to make an effort to remedy this situation.  In this line of thought, the School 2.0 programme will greatly contribute to enabling the classrooms of the 21st century to respond to current needs. Lastly he emphasized the close relation which there is between the demands of the labour market and the integration of new technologies in education.
